TNM Super League returnees Blantyre United have suspended their coach Leo Mpulula on disciplinary grounds.

The club’s technical director Lawson Nakoma confirmed Mpulula’s suspension yesterday, saying he has been temporarily replaced by his assistant Safarao Pompi.

Mpulula: I won’t comment much

“He has been suspended for a three-week period and in his absence, his assistant is the acting coach.

“Labour laws stipulate that when one is suspended, you cannot replace him. So, in line with the club licensing system, we sought special consideration from FAM that our assistant coach can take over for now although he does not have the required CAF B licence,” said Nakoma.

Mpulula yesterday said he could not comment much on the matter.

“But I am still part of the Blantyre United family since this is just a mere suspension and I will wait until a determination on the way forward is made,” he said.

Mpulula returned to United at the start of the season following the team’s return to the elite league after winning the second-tier Masters Security Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier League championship. n
